Free ATS resume checker for software engineers
Paste your resume text and get 10 checks in a second: sections, dates, bullets, numbers, verbs, and keywords against a job description. Nothing is uploaded. It all runs in your browser. Built by Elman Huseynov, a Lead Software Engineer with 100+ technical interviews run.
What the checker looks at
- Contact details, links, and the sections a recruiter expects.
- Dates on every role, because parsers use them to order your history.
- Bullets: how many, how long, how many carry a number, how they open.
- Filler phrases and first-person wording that add words and no evidence.
- Keyword overlap with a job description, if you paste one.
The checker reads text only. Columns, tables, icons, text boxes and images are what usually break a parser, and pasted text hides them. To test the file, copy the text out of your PDF and paste it here: if the order is scrambled, a parser will likely see the same.
A person still decides the outcome. For a written review with rewritten bullets, see resume review for software engineers.

Questions about the resume checker
What is an ATS resume checker?
An ATS resume checker tests a resume for the things an applicant tracking system and a recruiter both react to: readable sections, dates, contact details, and the keywords of the job.
No public tool can reproduce a specific employer's ATS. This one checks the parts that hold across most of them and tells you where it cannot see.
Is this resume checker free and private?
Yes. It is free, there is no sign-up, and the checks run in your browser. Your resume text is not uploaded or stored.
The page records only that a check ran, with the number of checks passed. It never records the text.
Does a clean result mean you will get an interview?
No. A clean result means the resume has no obvious structural problems. It says nothing about whether your experience fits the role.
Interviews depend on the match between your work and the job, and on the person reading. Use the checker to remove avoidable problems, then spend the time on the content.
What does an ATS actually do with a resume?
An ATS stores each application and reads the resume into fields: roles, dates, skills. Recruiters then search and sort those fields. Whether anything is filtered automatically depends on how the employer set it up.
A resume that parses cleanly and uses the same words as the job is easy to find. One that parses badly may reach a recruiter with missing fields.
How do you test whether your PDF parses?
Open the PDF, select all, and copy the text into a plain text editor. If the order is scrambled, columns are merged or characters are missing, a parser will likely see the same mess.
Paste that copied text into this checker. It reads text only, so it will show what a parser would receive.
