Car rental in Baku: 105 cars, 5 languages, one page per car.
A rental company in Baku with a fleet of 105 cars. The site is WordPress with a hand-written theme in English, Russian, Azerbaijani, Arabic and Turkish. Every car has its own page, booking goes through WhatsApp or a short form, and the whole site is served from cache.
What I did
Theme, content, translation, SEO and performance, end to end.
- Wrote the theme from scratch: no page builder, no theme framework, CSS inlined in the head.
- Built the fleet as a custom post type with prices, classes and covers, one page per car and one per class.
- Set up 5 languages with hreflang on every page, right-to-left layout for Arabic included.
- Wrote and translated the copy for cars, classes, airport transfers, FAQ and the blog.
- Converted 109 covers to AVIF at 5 sizes each: 28.3 MB became 17.2 MB, the article LCP image fell from 110 to 66 KB.
- Added first-party lead tracking, so a WhatsApp click is counted whether or not the visitor allowed analytics.
The decisions, and why
- WordPress, hand-written theme
- The owner updates cars and prices himself. WordPress gives him that; the hand-written theme keeps the page weight where a page builder never would.
- One page per car
- People search for a specific model in a specific city. A fleet table cannot rank for that; 105 pages can.
- WhatsApp before the form
- That is how the owner's customers already write to him. The form exists for the ones who would rather not.
- Cache everything
- Traffic peaks on weekends and around holidays. Serving from cache means the same server handles both.
